ASNE Day 2008 Call for Technical Papers

This conference will address the requirements and challenge associated with designing and building the Navy’s next generation multi-mission surface combatant. The CG(X) will leverage technologies proven by engineering development models for DDG 1000, and CG(X) will add capabilities for sea-based ballistic missile defense systems and higher power advanced sensors.  Due to the need to provide high levels of power for sensors and weapons and target delivery, the CG(X) will require very highly capable electric power system. The conference will explore the issues involved with integrating these multiple advanced capabilities into the design and construction of modern warships while accommodating affordability and acquisition process imperatives. The conference will consider technical risk, cost, & schedule mitigation approaches to support the CG(X) acquisition plan in line with the Navy’s 30 year shipbuilding plan.

Abstracts are due 1 December. For the complete Call for Papers and additional information click here.

Photo of CAPT Jeff Gambel, USCG (Ret.) presenting Mr. Doug Dahlhoff, PMS325 with an ASNE certificate of appreciation for speaking at Central Gulf Coast September meeting.  The event was held in Diamond Head, MS and drew a crowd of over 50 people.  Doug gave a fascinating presentation on the FMS program highlighting the variety of crafts and countries involved in this very dynamic aspect of ship acquisition with national and international implications.  Thanks goes out to Ina Jolicoeur, (CGC Section Board member) and SupShips Gulf Coast along with David DiSalvo of Green Marine, our CGC Section Programs Chair who were instrumental in making this event a resounding success.
