Calling all naval engineering students and young professionals!
Created by mccue@navalengineers.org on 6/14/2018 12:39:50 PM

Did you know we will have a dedicated track at next week's Technology, Systems and Ships 2018 for students and young professionals? Balcony Room C, in the FHI 360 Conference Center will be devoted to all things young professional for the duration of the event - and will serve as a networking/base of operations for YPs when special sessions are not scheduled in that room.

Here are the exciting events targeted for the Young Professionals' track:

  • James Harrison’s (NAVSEA) Presentation on Experimental Ships. Tuesday 19 June at 0845-1015
  • Round Table Discussions on Career Development. Tuesday 19 June at 1045-1115
  • Ms. Robin White’s (SES) Presentation on USS Guardian Grounding Incident. Tuesday 19 June at 1630-1720
  • Mr. William Bray’s (DASN RDT&E) Presentation on Defense Planning Guidance (DPG). Wednesday 20 June 1330-1500
Immediately after the round table competitions, we will hold a poster competition and student elections. If you are presenting a poster, please adhere to these regulations:

  • Posters should be no larger than 24” x 36” poster (horizontal or vertical, your choice).
  • Posters will be on easels so a hard back is preferable. If this is a problem, email mbriscoe@navalengineers.org and we can work with you.
  • Please set up your posters that morning (before 10:30am).
  • Poster winners will be announced at the Tuesday afternoon reception.

Additionally, the Rosenblatt Young Naval Engineer award will be presented during TSS to Mr. Jesse Geisbert - read more about Jesse's remarkable career in his award citation at: http://www.navalengineers.org/Awards/Annual-Awards/Rosenblatt-Young-Naval-Engineer-Award/2017-Rosenblatt-Award .

In addition to the student and YP specific programming, we encourage you to attend the numerous great papers, panels, and networking opportunities present during TSS. The Global Shipbuilding Executive Summit, a previously invitation-only gathering of shipbuilding leaders, has specifically requested participation in their tracks by the future naval engineering workforce. I encourage you to visit the agenda at http://www.navalengineers.org/Symposia/TSS2018 to explore what you would like to attend.

Register online at: http://www.navalengineers.org/Events/Event-Info/sessionaltcd/TSS2018 or call 703-836-6727 to register by phone. Student registration is FREE!

Thank you to Gibbs and Cox, Student and YP track sponsor for TSS 2018!
