The 2017 Intelligent Ships Symposium is right around the corner, May 24-25, 2017 at the University of Pennsylvania. MegaRust is conducted annually to provide a consolidated focus on Navy corrosion issues. Corrosion is a major factor in the readiness and total ownership cost of naval systems. This year’s theme, “Delivering for Success” will provide updated information on programs, policies, standards and Fleet experience related to corrosion and to promote discussion and sharing of information on technologies and strategies for controlling corrosion.

The Naval Future Force Science & Technology (S&T) Expo is the Office of Naval Research’s (ONR) premier event held in Washington, DC, 7/20/17-7/21/17.

Participants will hear from technical experts and senior naval leaders, including the new Chief of Naval Research RADM David Hahn, and learn more about his strategic vision for implementing: "Naval Research and Development: A Framework for Accelerating to the Navy & Marine Corps After Next," status of key programs and new research opportunities.

Design Sciences Series: Set-Based Design, Washington, DC, 9/26/17-9/27/17

 

The ASNE Design Sciences Series of workshops and conferences will explore emerging design approaches, methods, processes and tools for the successful design of naval engineering projects. This first conference focuses on Set-Based Design (SBD), a design method that has proven useful for projects with a large number of design variables, tight coupling among design variables, conflicting requirements, flexibility in requirements allowing for trades, or technologies and design problems that are not well understood.

One of the most dynamic environments around the globe requiring non-traditional naval engineering is the Arctic. This area requires the most unique engineers to design, build and test ships that operate in regions of great climatic change and harsh environments surrounded by ice.
