Program Details

ASNE has a strong fall lineup of technical programs for members and non-members alike. Here's what you have to look forward too:

Fleet Maintenance and Modernization Symposium

September 12-15
Hampton VA

Tidewater Section Chair Christina Carino gave an excellent summary of FMMS in the August 2016 Tidewater Section newsletter where she wrote:

"If you are reading this newsletter then I am willing to bet that you are in a position where it is evident that we have a compelling need to create an affordable Fleet tomorrow and we need to start thinking outside the box in how we get there. Forums like FMMS are where this outside thinking flourishes. There will be several panels and paper presentations from the Navy, Coast Guard, Army Watercraft, industry and academia addressing this theme."

Arctic Day

November 2
Washington DC

We are thrilled to announce planned participation in Arctic Day by RADM Bruce Baffer, RDML Lorin Selby, RDML Michael Haycock, and Mr. Jim Webster along with a special presentation on polar region engineering by Aker. For the most up-to-date Arctic Day program information, view the agenda.

Launch and Recovery Symposium

November 16-17
Linthicum Heights, MD

The Launch and Recovery Symposium is continuing its historical trend of being one of our most diverse events with representation from the Navy, USCG, academia, and industry in the US and abroad. Program highlights include an opening keynote by RADM John P. Neagley, a luncheon talk by Jaap Gelling from Damen, a performance prediction panel with Brandt Savander, Maritime Research Associates, LLC, Len Imas, Stevens Institute of Technology, Nicolas Carette, Marin, and Ed Lewandowski, CSRA. As a special highlight this year, Scott Littlefield from DARPA will be delivering an evening talk after the symposium reception as a joint ASNE Flagship Section/SNAME Chesapeake Section gathering. Registration is available for the full symposium or for the reception and evening talk as a standalone, for those of you who may not be able to get away from the office during the day for the full event. View the agenda here.

Combat Systems Symposium

December 6-7
Washington Navy Yard

The 2015 Combat Systems Symposium was one of our most successful events in recent history thanks in large part to the dedicated committee led by Joe Johnson and high-level engagement thanks to RDML Jon Hill. The 2016 symposium is looking to be equally outstanding. For the latest announcements on invited and confirmed speakers for CSS 2016, keep a watch on the agenda here.

ASNE Night

This last Friday, August 12, a group of ASNE Nats fans (and a few ASNE Braves fans) outlasted heat advisories to watch the Nationals take on the Braves. While the Braves may have come out on top, ASNE's mission was the real winner as $5 from each ticket will go to support ASNE programs such as scholarships, symposia, courses, and student activities.

Section Spotlight

Looking to get involved in ASNE on the West Coast? ASNE's San Diego Section is conducting their September technical meeting and tour on September 9, 2016 from 3-4pm with a tour of SeaBotix. SeaBotix is a leading manufacturer of MiniROV systems with a pedigree of underwater expertise. The September meeting and tour are hosted by Jeremiah Cox. Attendees must submit their name and their company name and business address to Jeremiah Cox at Jeremiah.Cox@Teledyne.com no later than COB September 5, 2016.
