CITATION:

Rear Admiral Holloway has been one of the most active and influential members of the ASNE leadership for many years. A life member of the Society, he first joined ASNE in 1977. His participation and influence span the full range of the Society’s activities, and his efforts are invariably focused on the issues of greatest strategic importance to the Society. From serving as President, Vice President, and as Chair or member of various committees to participating in more than 61 Society events since the early 1990s and volunteering for a number of ad hoc efforts, his contributions have been varied and significant. He is an experienced and effective organizational and business manager who has contributed his knowledge and expertise to actively help improve ASNE operations. His innovative suggestions for ASNE technical program content and his initiative and assistance in making key contacts with industry and senior Navy officials have not only fostered increased participation, but have also helped to maintain the quality of ASNE programs. In his daily activities, he is an ardent and effective ASNE representative and his personal reputation as a world class engineer and leader reflects positively upon the Society.

Rear Admiral Holloway continuously strives to define, fine-tune and enhance ASNE objectives. As a member of the Long Range Planning committee, he was a driving force behind the group’s focus on strategic as well as technical programs. He was instrumental in forming the Strategic Alliance Committee by assembling a diverse and energetic group to formulate the recommendations, decision criteria and specific processes for moving the concept forward. He has also served on the Arrangements, Environmental Engineering, Planned Giving, Professional Development, and Nominating Committees.

In the past 25 plus years, Rear Admiral Holloway’s active participation in support of ASNE has made a real and substantial difference in the quality and effectiveness of the Society’s operations. He continues to be actively involved with many aspects, advising and assisting Council, committee chairs, staff and individual members and helping them to advance the Society’s interests. He is one of the Society’s most active and dedicated leaders and is truly deserving of the American Society of Naval Engineers Frank G. Law Award for 2005.
