Volunteer Opportunities

ASNE needs our members to step up and support the Society by helping out whereever you can.  We are a volunteer organization meaning that we rely upon our members to help the Society function. Volunteers are needed at every level and location of our Society and even in locations not currently covered by a Section or Chapter. Section officers are needed to help organize local events and to conduct membership drives, support science fairs, conduct mentoring and make the further advancement of naval engineering career path that our Nation needs. Volunteering gives you personal satisfaction, a chance to deal with peers and the knowledge you are supporting the advancement of naval engineering. The Society needs your assistance. Here are just some of the ways you can help out:

Consider helping your local Chapter or Section. The chairs are listed here. If you don't see anyone near your location, then contact National and we will help you evaluate the potential for a new Section or Chapter. Click here to locate a local ASNE Section/Chapter near you.

Committees are formed to focus on specific areas that ASNE would like to concentrate on. They either support the Council, plan Symposia, develop reports, or conduct a multitude of other activities to support naval engineering.  Please look through this list of Committees and contact the chair if you are interested in helping out.

ASNE has partnered with SNAME to support their Technical & Research (T&R) Program and there are panels and committees that could use your help. Please contact the chair directly to see how you can join the group and provide assistance. Go to SNAME's T&R Program Web Page to learn more.

ASNE is always planning an event and can use your help either during the event or the early planning and coordination of it. Please look through the Meetings & Events page to see if there are events that you would like to help volunteer for and if so contact the National office so we can get you in contact with the appropriate people for that event. Please also let us know if there are other topics which you would like to help to organize an event.

Maybe we could have you write a paper or article that would be of interest to our members. The possibilities are endless. Please consider volunteering to help ASNE.
