Hello, fellow ASNE members, SNAME members, and others of interest. We are currently in the process of starting up Eastern Ops of the ASNE Central Gulf Coast Section.

Our first meeting will be Thursday, August 18th, at 5:30 pm at Wintzell's Oyster House in downtown Mobile on Dauphin Street (ample parking). Please mark your calendar and join us for an exciting presentation regarding the Clotilda, the last slave ship to Mobile that subsequently was burned. The lecture should keep you on the edge of your seats. We'll send a flyer to you shortly on the particulars and specifics.   Remember to register for Professional Development Hours (PDH) if you are a registered Professional Engineer (a great benefit of ASNE membership)

Future meetings will be alternating between Mobile and New Orleans. Even-numbered months will have presentations in Mobile, and odd-numbered months will be in New Orleans. Folks in the Mobile, Pensacola, and Pascagoula areas can attend the Mobile meetings without the significant travel, while the New Orleans folks will have a substantial trip.

Terry Mannion, with a long history of involvement in the Marine industry, has stepped up to a leadership role in the Mobile area. We believe this move is warranted with the increased marine business in Mobile, Pensacola, and Pascagoula. We trust you will agree and support this effort.

Regarding ASNE membership, the yearly dues have been cut significantly to an annual membership of $72.00, an incentive to join ASNE. Please take a look at the attached e-mail regarding dues and membership. If you are not a member, we encourage you to do so.   Membership is an excellent avenue to network with your peers.

Lastly, I'd like to encourage you to forward this and the soon-to-be-received flyer to friends you have in the marine industry along the Gulf Coast. I look forward to seeing you at Wintzell's on the 18th.

Thank you.
