The Puget Sound Section encourages the High School NJROTC (Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps) at Bremerton HS (Bremerton WA) and South Kitsap HS (Port Orchard WA). We offer member services as Judges for shows and we normally sponsor a cadet for each of our dinner meetings, alternating between the two corps.
South Kitsap High School NJROTC ProgramThe South Kitsap Wolf Company Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps is a leadership and Civics oriented program with an academic segment that both supports and enhances our American History from a Naval perspective. We are structured just like a Naval Unit with a cadet Commander, Executive Officer etc. We use the military structure in order to facilitate having duties and responsibilities which provide leadership and motivational opportunities for the cadets
Bremerton High School NJROTC Program
The NJROTC program at Bremerton High School was established in 1982 and about 10 percent of the student population participates in the program.
Cmdr. Doug Cook and retired Marine Master Sgt. Janice Brooks, who are both naval science instructors at the school. The Bremerton High School Knight Company is named in honor of Captain Donald Ross, a Pearl Harbor survivor who was presented the Medal of Honor for his efforts on 7 December 1941. The unit has 9th through 12th grade students and teaches 24 different subject areas which all compliment the core courses taught at the high school. Extra-curricular activities include Academic Team, Orienteering Team, Strength Team, Armed and Unarmed Drill Teams, Color guard, Greeter teams, Sailing team and Sportser Air Rifle Teams. In addition, we have several community events we sponsor each year including Operaion Feed 5000, Mad Dash for Toys (like the USMC Toys for Tots), Operation Christmas Child for third world country children, Operation Support our troops, and Operation Christmas store for needy area children and adults.
