Technology Enablers for Digital Engineering 2018

Conference Venue: Day 1 - University of Mary Washington, Dahlgren Campus; Day 2 - Aegis BMD Facility, Dahlgren, VA

This unique two-day event is being held in partnership between the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division and the American Society of Naval Engineers.  The first day will be unclassified at the University of Mary Washington, Dahlgren Campus and the second day will be classified at the Aegis BMD Facility, Dahlgren, VA.  Please note, registration for the event does not guarantee access to the second day.  Visit authorization requests must be submitted for the 2nd day.

Visit Authorization Requests and Base Access

There are two steps which must be completed in order to attend the classified second day of this workshop. First, attendees must ensure they have base access. Second, attendees must ensure they have access to the Aegis BMD classified meeting space. The following instructions are intended to guide attendees through the process. Please note it is the attendee's responsibility to pursue both base access and classified session access.


Step 1: Base Access

All registered attendees will be able to access the first day of the conference as it is being held off Base at the University of Mary Washington (Dahlgren Campus).

The following information is applicable to attendees who wish to attend the second day of the Conference (classified):

Attendees who hold a security clearance but do not have a CAC Card should send their clearance information via JPAS using the following:

  • SMO Code: 001785
  • Technical POC: Rose McGregor
  • Technical POC Ph. No.: 540-653-7979

Attendees who hold a security clearance but do not have a CAC Card and do not have a method for sending clearance information via JPAS should register on the registration site and also call Rose McGregor at 540-653-7979 with their SSN so that their clearance information can be verified.

Attendees who do not have a CAC Card will be asked to provide all information required on the attached expected visitor form.


Step 2: Missile Defense Agency/ Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (Dahlgren)

Incoming Visit Authorization Request (VAR) Process (e.g. the process for accessing the classified meeting)

Incoming VARs are processed through the MDA Incoming Visitor Control Center and are accepted via three (3) methods: JPAS, Faxed, or E-mailed; JPAS is the preferred method. Incoming VARs must contain:

  • Full Name
  • SSN
  • Date of Birth
  • Citizenship
  • Clearance level
  • Date Clearance issued
  • Who issued the clearance
  • Dates of visit
  • Reason for visit
  • MDA Government Point of Contact to be processed.
    MDA Government Point of Contact will be: Vickie L. Noble, 540.663.1953, vickie.noble@mda.mil
Any VAR missing or containing incorrect information will not be processed until submitted correctly. The VAR is then sent to the MDA Government Point of Contact for approval. Once approved, the VAR is entered into the DII system.
