ASNE Membership Terms & Conditions
General Terms
The following applies to all American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE) membership applications, terms, conditions, and rates, and to all ASNE symposia and event registration rates, unless otherwise noted. Terms and Conditions are subject to change without notice.
Membership application requests and event registration requests will be vetted through U.S. government entities. ASNE reserves the right to reject any membership application or registration application.
Membership Applications, Rates & Payment
Application & Agreement
Submission of a paid ASNE membership application, whether online, via email, fax, phone, mail or in-person, constitutes agreement with these Terms & Conditions.
After vetting by U.S. government entities, ASNE reserves the right to reject any membership application.
Membership Rates & Verification
Membership rates selected and paid by potential members during application will be verified. If an incorrect membership rate-type has been selected and paid, the rate will be adjusted appropriately after vetting and verification of membership status.
Personnel are responsible for additional payment if they signed up for an ASNE membership under an unauthorized category. Individuals will be invoiced for the correct rate, or may receive a credit for overpayment.
Payment & Refunds
By submitting a membership application, either individually or as part of an ASNE Join & Attend membership, once paid, the ASNE membership is non-refundable.
In the event a credit card is declined, or a check is returned, the registrant must provide payment (and/or return check charge) no later than 14 business days after notification.
Transferability of Individual Memberships
Individual memberships paid by a company or organization are not interchangeable. If a company or organization decides to change the membership status of a company employee (for example, the employee is no longer with that company or organization), the remaining membership term of that former employee is not transferable. The membership status goes with the employee, not the company or organization.
* Please Note: The only exception to these membership terms and conditions is if the company is a current ASNE Corporate Partner. If the membership is a benefit of Corporate individual membership, based on the Corporate Partnership level, the membership may then be switched to another employee of that ASNE Partner organization. The individual membership termination date is the same as the termination date of the Corporate Partnership. ASNE memberships authorized as a benefit of Corporate Partnership are valid only for the term of the Corporate Partnership.
Symposia & Event Registration
Registration & Payment
Submission of a paid registration, whether online, via email, fax, phone, mail or in-person, constitutes agreement with these Terms & Conditions.
Symposia registration rates selected by individuals during registration will be verified. If an incorrect symposia rate-type has been selected and paid, the rate will be adjusted appropriately. Personnel are responsible for additional payment if they signed up for an ASNE symposia registration under an unauthorized category. Individuals will be invoiced for the correct rate, or may receive a credit for overpayment.
In the event a credit card is declined, or a check is returned, the registrant must provide payment (and/or return check charge) no later than 14 business days after notification.
In the instance a Purchase Order (PO) Number is not received, or payment is not obtained for any other reason, the individual or organization is still responsible for payment.
Complete terms governing symposia and event registration, refunds, cancellations, exhibits and sponsorships are published separately. Please see the ASNE Event Terms & Conditions.
Recording, Photography & Release
By attending an ASNE event, virtually or in person, each participant consents to being filmed, photographed and recorded during and in connection with the meeting, and consents to the use or publication of such recordings in connection with any promotional, educational or professional purposes.
Each participant releases ASNE and its Council members, directors, officers, employees, or agents from any and all liability arising from the recordings or their uses, including for infringement of proprietary rights, invasion of privacy, defamation or any other cause of action, and waives any right to inspect or approve such recordings and any and all rights to payment of royalties in connection therewith.
Code of Conduct
ASNE Non-Discrimination / Anti-Harassment Policy
ASNE Non-Discrimination / Anti-Harassment Policy

ASNE also has a responsibility to protect attendees, volunteers and non-employees from discrimination and harassment. ASNE is responsible for maintaining a professional atmosphere that is free of bias, prejudice and all forms of harassment during all Society meetings and events.
Should you have any concerns pursuant to the ASNE policy, or experience or observe any conduct you believe may violate this policy, please immediately contact the ASNE Chief Executive Officer, an ASNE Executive Committee member, or any ASNE staff member.
Conduct believed to be in violation of this policy may result in termination of membership and / or removal from, or denial of, access to future ASNE-sponsored symposia, meetings and events, or other remedial / legal measures. No refunds will be issued to an ASNE event participant asked to leave a meeting pursuant to this policy.
