Fundamentals of Reliable Marine Electrical Systems
Overview:
Designing electrical systems for marine electric vehicles (EVs) means confronting
the harsh realities of saltwater exposure, constant vibration, and relentless corrosion — challenges that
off-highway equipment engineers have tackled for decades. In this 40-minute technical webinar, Matrix Engineering Consultants (LinkedIn) will explore how
rugged design principles from agriculture, forestry, and construction machinery can be adapted to
student-built electric boats.
What You’ll Learn:
- Harness design and routing for survivability
- Connector reliability and waterproofing techniques
- Component selection for harsh environments
- Grounding and fault protection tailored to marine EVs
- Maintenance planning and diagnostics for long-term reliability
Whether you're building for competition or innovation, this session will help you
design systems that don’t just work — they endure. Attendees receive a Survivability
Checklist and hear great conversations with the audience and an industry expert. Prepare to
elevate your understanding and design capabilities in marine EV
systems. Join us for an hour that’s as informative as it is inspiring.
