ASNE's Fleet Maintenance & Modernization Symposium (FMMS) is going "Virtual!"
"From Sailor to Shipyard – Improving Fleet Readiness"
September 14-17, 2020

Due to COVID-19 mandated social gathering meeting restrictions, ASNE was left with no choice but to transition our live face-to-face East Coast FMMS into a Virtual Symposium. The FMMS Committee has been busy creating a three-day agenda to include senior military keynotes, industry speakers, panels, live streaming sessions with Q&A, along with technical paper presentations. The symposium will take place September 15-17, with September 14th being a "Jump Start" day giving early preview access to all technical paper presentations. Best of all, exhibitors and attendees will have a Virtual Exhibit Hall with multiple networking opportunities!

The American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE) Fleet Maintenance & Modernization Symposium is an annual event, alternating between Hampton Roads and San Diego, bringing together the entire naval ship maintenance and modernization community like no other forum. ASNE's FMMS allows for an open forum of communications and exchange of technical information on ship maintenance and modernization between the Maritime Services, Fleet Forces Command, NAVSEA, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy, industry, academia, deck plate users, and you.

This forum seeks to engage everyone who has a stake in building, repairing, sailing, innovating, updating, training, fighting, and winning on or from the sea on a US or allied military vessel. We are stronger when people with different backgrounds, education, jobs, trades, and experience discuss issues and solutions facing the fleet.

What are some of the intersections of communications from the fleet, industry, and academia of this forum?

  • learn what new technology can do and how best to integrate into a ship's systems
  • work with other disciplines and stakeholders to ensure that engineering considerations are built into all phases and lifecycle process
  • share effective repair strategies based on collective data and deck plate experience to help eliminate the cost and time of rework
  • understand what ship designs and systems can be modernized with durable and proven technology
  • train others and share historical knowledge that can be collected for the next generation
  • leverage partnerships between small and large businesses to facilitate technology transition to the fleet

FMMS 2020 will include prominent guest speakers, panelists and paper presentations from the Navy, Coast Guard, industry and academia; providing a unique opportunity to interact with senior military and civil service decision makers, ship and craft operators and maintainers, repair and maintenance personnel, designers, builders, planners, engineers, program managers, life cycle engineers, equipment suppliers and other technical experts.

**All times listed in EDT. Agenda within Boomset will adjust to your regional time zone. Agenda subject to change.

FMMS Virtual Exhibit Hall

Need to reach your favorite FMMS exhibitor or connect with a new vendor? Don’t fret, FMMS has a Virtual Exhibit Hall! Get ready to engage, network, chat, video one-on-one and see what new offerings are out there. Complimentary Exhibit Hall Only Registrations will be made available. Be on the lookout for details to unfold.

New Exhibit Documentation! Please look at our Exhibitor Guidelines PDF to see all that the FMMS exhibits will offer and how you can put your company's best foot forward. These guidelines will help clarify this process for all exhibitors.

Why exhibit virtually?

FMMS Exhibitors will be able to set up a virtual “booth” that attendees can visit in order to view content your company provides, and connect with your booth staff in one-on-one conversations. Attendees who choose to connect with you will be listed as leads, and you will be able to retrieve a list of these attendees during and after the event. Lead retrieval is complimentary.

ASNE will be reaching out to assist in setting up your virtual exhibit space. There will be an "About" section with information provided by you, and is the first thing attendees see when they select to see your company. You can create a photo and video gallery. Your staff will have access to view which attendees have reached out to connect with your booth, and will be able to send them chat messages and engage in one-to-one video chats. There is a leads page, including notes left by attendees. The “Start Conversation” box will bring you to a chat with an attendee, and you can check if another staff member has already reached out. We are excited about our Virtual Exhibit Hall offerings!

How to Get Started

Start preparing for your exhibit space gathering the following:

  • A list of Staff Members that will have access to your virtual booth, please include their full names, email addresses, companies, job titles and photos if desired.
  • A square logo (400x400) image to be used as the icon for your company in the exhibitor gallery and in your booth
  • A banner image (860x360) or video to be displayed above your profile in the exhibitor booth. If you’d like to include a video, please ensure that it’s in the .mp4 format.
  • A short bio in the About section. This section can accept basic HTML.
  • Any photos and videos you would like to include in your booth’s photo and video galleries. Photos in the gallery will be uploaded directly. Videos in the gallery can be embedded from external sites such as Youtube or Vimeo, but not uploaded directly into the platform.
  • Any documents you would like to include for download, such as brochures and FAQs. Supported file types are PDF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, DOC, DOCX, XLSX.
