Live from Launch and Recovery

"We are talking about paradigm shifts from what we've been doing for a century." - Dr. Bernard Ferrier

The 2016 Launch and Recovery Symposium is in full swing at MITAGs in Linthicum Heights, Maryland. This event is one of our most international and technical. Keynotes, panels, and papers focus on the research and development, model and sea trials, and operational aspects of launching and retrieving manned and unmanned underwater, surface, and air vehicles to surface ships. A few photo highlights of day one are below, first with Jaap Gelling kicking off the symposium with a captivating morning keynote, and second with Kevin McTaggart at the start of the Performance Prediction Panel.

Top Snipe Award

Did you know ASNE presents awards at the U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, MIT Naval Construction and Engineering (2N) Program, and the Senior Officer School Material Readiness Course "Top Snipe" award? The SWOS SOSMRC TOP SNIPE Award for SOSMRC Class 60301 is CDR Kevin O'Brien; he is headed to LCS 106. Pictured below is CDR O'Brien with the Commanding Officer of Surface Warfare Officers School Command, CAPT Scott F. Robertson. Congratulations CDR O'Brien!
