Candidate for Vice Chairman

 

CDR Renée B. Reedy, USN (Ret.)

A native of Perth Amboy, NJ, Renée Reedy graduated from the United States Naval Academy (USNA) in 1981 earning a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a commission as Ensign in the United States Navy. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Physics from the Naval Post Graduate School.

She served initially as a surface warfare officer first as the commissioning Navigator and CIC Officer in USS CAPE COD (AD-43), Assistant First Lt and Boilers Officer in USS LEXINGTON (AVT-16), Chief Engineer in USS YELLOWSTONE (AD-41) and First Lt in USS PLATTE (A0-186) before transferring to the Engineering Duty Office community.

As a new Engineering Duty Officer, she completed numerous availabilities as a Project Officer and qualified as a Docking Observer at Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) Portsmouth. This is also where Renee was first introduced to and became a member of the American Society of Naval Engineers. Other EDO assignments include Surface Combatant Type Deck Coordinator (COMNAVSURFLANT); Plans & Policy Officer (COMNAVSURFLANT); Planning & Engineering Officer (SUPSHIP Portsmouth); and Repair Officer (SUPSHIP Portsmouth).

After retirement from the Navy in July of 2002, Renee transitioned into the private sector initially as a Performance Consultant for American Management Systems/ CACI in support of the Cruiser Modernization Program and later as an instructor for the Navy’s East Coast Port Engineer and Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Team and Project Manager training programs. In 2004, Renee joined the Epsilon Systems Solutions team as a Program Manager but quickly advanced to the Vice President of the Marine & Industrial Services Sector responsible for the operation of east coast repair and support services, worldwide alteration installation teams and hyperbaric installations with a workforce of more than 150 full time trade and support personnel.

Currently, Renee is President and Co-founder of a small consulting company and teaches Physics at the local Community College, in the Chesapeake, VA.

Renee has been an ASNE Member since transitioning to the Engineering Duty Officer Community in the early 90’s and is active in the ASNE Tidewater Section. She served as Treasurer of the Tidewater Section (2004-2006), and is currently leading the Technical Papers Committee in support of the upcoming Fleet Modernization & Maintenance Symposium (2020) .

Personal Statement: I have been a member of ASNE since my initial EDO tour and have enjoyed the benefits both personally and professionally as a result of the relationships built upon a commitment to excellence in support of our maritime services. As an Adjunct Physics Professor at the local community college, I have been committed to the STEM education of young professionals and aspirants to personal improvement, many of whom are active on the deck plates in our profession. It is in that spirit that I would like to offer my service to the Council and Society it serves.

 

 

Candidates for Secretary

 

Ms. Andi McCusker

Andi McCusker serves as Project Coordinator at Fairlead, a Department of Defense contractor providing products and services to the US military. She has been employed at Fairlead for fourteen years and is responsible for managing and tracking projects through planning, execution, and delivery. She has also contributed to the company’s business development and marketing efforts. Ms. McCusker publishes an inhouse newsletter to feature Fairlead products and programs in support of the maritime industry, as well as highlight individual achievements of the many skilled and experienced Fairlead personnel.

Prior to joining Fairlead, Ms. McCusker tutored students and taught elementary school for over 10 years.

Ms. McCusker has been a member of ASNE and actively involved with the ASNE Tidewater Section for three years. Her volunteer positions within the Section include:

Candidates for Treasurer (Two-year term)

 

Mr. Chuck Doty

Chuck Doty has been a member of ASNE for 33 years, including service as a Charleston section officer in the late 80s. He served 26 years in the Navy first as a submarine officer, followed by engineering duty officer tours at 5 different shipyards, retiring as the Engineering and Planning Officer at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and IMF in 2005. Chuck has since worked as a defense contractor in several naval maintenance roles on carriers, submarines and LCACs. His current employer is McKean Defense where he provides technical support to the USFF Fleet Maintenance Director on issues such as damage control policy and shipyard workload. He is a graduate of the Naval Academy (B.S Marine Engineering) and Penn State (M.S. Nuclear Engineering).
