Applying NASCAR’s Pit Stop Precision to Fleet Maintenance
Date/Time:
Thursday, June 5, 2:00-3:00pm EDT
Registration closes:
Wednesday June 4, 2025, 11:59 AM EDT for Thursday's Webinar.
Course Description:
In NASCAR, every second counts. Pit crews don’t have time to pop the hood and troubleshoot. They know exactly which parts are most vulnerable, have replacements staged and ready, and execute repairs in a tightly synchronized routine.
Imagine applying that same precision and speed to fleet maintenance. The U.S. Navy is doing just that through a pilot program that slashed the service time for ship service generators from up to nine months to just 26 days and reduced main propulsion engine overhauls to 38 days.
Join ASNE and Jim Kenny, Vice President of Navy Affairs for Fairbanks Morse Defense, on June 5, 2025, for a webinar that will explore how adopting a NASCAR-style “pit stop” model can help cut costs, avoid supply chain disruptions, and return ships to service faster. Kenny will be joined by Keith Haasl, President of Service and Technology at Fairbanks Morse Defense, and a U.S. Navy rep. Together, they’ll dissect pilot program case studies from four Whidbey Island-class dock landing ships (LSDs), compare the “pit stop” approach to the current “open and inspect” model, identify the key steps that had the most significant impact, and discuss how NAVSEA can scale this approach across more ship classes and assets.
Don’t miss this opportunity to learn how smart strategies from the racetrack could drive a new era of naval readiness.
