Please click here to submit a proposal.

ASNE is seeking papers for inclusion in the technical program of the 2022 Technology, Systems, and Ships (TSS) conference. Authors will have the opportunity to then present their papers at the conference. Additionally, authors of papers that have been accepted or published in ASNE’s Naval Engineers Journal (NEJ) in the past 2 years are invited to present without having to submit a separate paper.

This year’s TSS will focus on current and emerging trends for naval ships. Technical papers for TSS are solicited across the broad range of technical challenges applicable to technology, systems, and ships. Papers should address topics that support the TSS 2022 theme of Building the Naval Force. The following topics are particularly encouraged:

  • Modern warship design
  • Advances in electric ship technology
  • Digital and automated technologies
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
  • Unmanned ship technology
  • Future warship effectiveness
  • Shipbuilding technology
  • Lessons & trends from foreign navies and commercial marine sectors

Abstract Submission Details

Abstracts should include the following:

  • Proposed paper title
  • Author name(s) and affiliations
  • Contact email
  • A 300 words or less written description in sufficient detail to permit evaluation by the Technical Papers Committee. 1-2 key figures may be included as part of the abstract.

Key Dates

  • Abstracts Due – May 6, 2022
  • Authors Notified – May 13, 2022
  • Paper submission – May 30, 2022
  • Presentation submission – June 6, 2022

* - Acceptance will be rolling. Abstracts submitted earlier than 4/25 can expect to receive earlier notification

Abstracts should be submitted online using this link.

Papers are encouraged to be 5-7 pages in length but longer papers will be considered. Papers must have technical merit for the naval ship community and not be used primarily as a means of advertisement or promotion of a commercial venture. Accepted papers will be published as part of the TSS 2022 proceedings.

Authors of ASNE NEJ papers that have been published or accepted in the past 2 years may use that paper as the basis for the presentation and will not need to submit a separate paper. In this case, please submit the abstract of that paper and the publication details.
