Ship Seakeeping and Small Boat Dynamics

In conjunction with the Launch and Recovery Symposium, Ship Seakeeping and Small Boat Dynamics course focuses on what you need to know about ship motions in a seaway, with particular emphasis on the impact on launch and recovery operations. The course will cover the following:

  • Response of the "mother ship" in waves; effect of speed, heading, sea state
  • Ship stern motions and ramp/well dynamics related to stern launch and recovery
  • Dynamics of small boats approaching a ship and lying alongside in waves
  • Small boat dynamics in the wake of a ship
  • Ship and boat operating strategies for launch and recovery
  • Available analysis tools for this subject area and their limitations
